Do you utilize AI (artificial intelligence) in your work?
Absolutely not; From start to finish, my art is 100% handcrafted. None of my artwork uses any artificial intelligence programs. I'm a strong advocate against the use of AI in art, and I do not consent for my artwork to be run through any artificial intelligence programs. Always support local artists, please & thank you!
What cameras/lenses do you use for photography?
Some of the cameras that I use are the Canon EOS Rebel T3i with an 18-55mm lens and a 55-250mm lens, an Iphone 15 pro with SANDMARC anamorphic lens and SANDMARC microscope lens.
How long do your paintings take to create?
Simple paintings average 6-8+ hours, while complex paintings may take anywhere from 15-20+ hours—with some works exceeding 40 hours. The program that I use to draw is Procreate; It tracks the time spent on each digital painting, as well as the total amount of brush strokes.
What is the difference between prints and postcards?
Prints and postcards from Emmylou Studio are both outsourced to professionals who utilize giclée methods through high-resolution inkjet printers. The larger prints utilize high-quality matte materials and come in multiple sizes, whereas the high-quality matte postcards come in a standard size (4x6in) at the most affordable rate. The postcards also offer a wider selection of work from Emmylou’s portfolio, as opposed to the limited selection of larger prints. If there is a postcard you would like to order in a larger print size, please feel free to reach out!
Do you take commissions?
Although I do take commissions, not every submission is accepted as I try to provide a consistent body of work that reflects who I am on both an individual and artistic level. That being said, please don't hesitate to reach out regarding commissions for photography and digital illustrations. Portrait requests are frequently accepted.
Can I purchase any of your original artwork?
Yes! I will sometimes release original artwork that has been produced in a physical form (e.g., fiber art, oil painting, woodblock printing, sculptures, etc.), so be sure to keep your eyes open!
Do you outsource for printing?
Yes, Emmylou Studio currently relies on third-party professionals for product printing and shipping; This allows the store to provide customers with high quality products that are consistent, fairly priced, and less impactful on the environment!
Is there a book of your artwork available?
Soon! I am currently in the process of putting together a few different books—including a coffee table book of my photography, a collection of illustrated poems, and children’s picture books.
